Well -- it's like this.

Sandalwood was yowling at the bike rack at the general store across the street.

Spark, now in another family so that she can be an only cat, was in the shrubs across the street as the thunderstorm was moving in.

Someone left Shadow and her brother in a cage at the door of the first aid squad, figuring that anyone tenderhearted enough to volunteer for that would be tenderhearted enough for a cat. At the time, Phil an I were living with his parents, and there were 2 dogs and 3 cats in the house. We took the two new arrivals to the vet for a checkup, and the vet volunteered to find them homes. A month later, when my Dad took his cat to his new, cat-allowing home, I called the vet back and discovered that Shadow didn't have a home yet. Her brother was adopted by one of the vet nurses.

Sometimes I wonder if Bast has me on speed-dial.
